Postdoctoral Research Fellow (Research Officer) or Senior Postdoctoral Research Fellow (Senior Research Officer) positions are available to join Snow Medical laboratories at leading Australian institutes in Melbourne, Sydney and Canberra.

About the Position

Opportunities are available for outstanding and motivated scientists funded by Snow Medical. As a Snow Postdoctoral Researcher, you will be part of an exceptional research team in a Snow Medical Lab based at a leading Australian biomedical research institute (Our Snow Fellows). You will be part of a unique network, have the opportunity to lead significant projects, and develop new skills in a supportive environment with a strong emphasis on scientific excellence and a focus on impactful questions.

Snow Postdoctoral Researchers will receive a competitive salary/package and investment into their leadership and professional development. Snow Postdoctoral Researchers are expected to show scientific leadership within the themes of the host laboratory and may be provided with the opportunity to manage a small team, depending on experience. The program will support career development through mentoring and leadership training, and provide networking opportunities.

Snow Postdoctoral Researchers will also be eligible and encouraged to participate in short-term placements in other Snow Fellow laboratories to gain expertise in new techniques, bring additional skills to the host laboratory or institution, and broaden their network.

 

We will provide:

  • A 2-year contract
  • Travel funds to attend international and national conferences
  • Relocation funds
  • Access to state-of-the-art facilities
  • Competitive salaries – Research Officers can expect $90,000 – $105,000 base per annum. Senior Research Officers can expect $103,000-$130,000 base per annum.
  • Mentoring and career development opportunities, including:
    • Postdoc leadership training
    • Opportunities for placements/collaborations with other Snow Fellows across Australia
    • Snow Fellow and Snow Postdoc meetings
    • Grant and fellowship writing support

          What we are looking for:

          We want to support postdoctoral researchers with the most potential to benefit.

          • A PhD in a relevant discipline for an appropriate Snow Medical laboratory, such as Genomics, Epigenetics, Transcriptional Regulation, Functional Genomics, Immunology, Parasitology, Computational Biology, Bioinformatics or Mechanobiology.
          • Outstanding publication track record, with demonstrated ability to lead projects to completion
          • Expertise in methods and approaches relevant to specific Snow Medical programs, for example, CRISPR-Cas9 systems, spatial transcriptomics, genomics, epigenetics, bulk & single-cell multi-omics, immunology, bioinformatics, computational biology, bioengineering and mechanobiology (Contact the lab head directly)
          • Excellent time management, communication (written and oral), and interpersonal skills.
