Queensland scientists have found a class of drugs that could potentially prevent or reverse heart damage in COVID-19 patients.

Queensland researchers have identified a class of drugs that could potentially prevent or reverse heart damage in COVID-19 patients.

Canadian company Resverlogix has already used the findings by the QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute as the basis for expanding a trial of its drug apabetalone into patients with COVID-19.

In severe COVID-19 cases, the immune system over-reacts to the infection, releasing inflammatory molecules, known as cytokines, into the bloodstream…..
